In 2021, Respect Victoria and DV Vic/DVRCV are partnering to deliver and support local engagement in the 16 Days of Activism Grassroots initiative.

Facilitated by the DV Vic/DVRCV Primary Prevention Unit, this two-part webinar series is for community organisations and councils that are planning to get involved in this year's initiative.

Introduction

Planning your 16 Days of Activism Campaign

Is your organisation planning to get involved in this year's 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence campaign? Join us for this webinar to learn how organisations of any size can participate in the 16 Days of Activism and activate your local communities in the COVID-19 context.

Our supportive project officers from the DV Vic/DVRCV Primary Prevention Unit will be hosting the webinar, to help you get on track with your campaign planning. The event will provide practical advice on how to run a successful campaign, including tips on managing inclusion and accessibility, and how to engage local leaders in discussions about the primary prevention of family and gender-based violence.

It will also feature presentations by organisations who have run successful campaigns in previous years, and incorporate an extended question and answer session. We will be responding to any questions about the 16 Days and how to best utilise your organisation's resources to create an impactful and engaging campaign.

Date: Wednesday 27 October 2021
Time: 2:00pm - 3:30pm (AEDT)

16  Days of Activism  – Online Campaigns and Managing Resistance

Resistance is a normal response to social change. It can occur in any setting and by anyone, regardless of their gender. It often comes when those who benefit from existing inequalities feel that their power and privilege is challenged.

In our second webinar for the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, we will dive into how you can run an engaging 16 Days campaign in the online environment and prepare you to respond to different forms of resistance.

It will feature two organisations that hosted successful online campaigns or events for the 16 Days of Activism in 2020. They will talk through some handy tips on how to create digital content that is engaging and starts positive conversations in the community.

This webinar will also feature a deep dive into encountering resistance in online spaces, and how practitioners can safely challenge this in the context of the 16 Days campaign. This session will also include an extended question and answer session, including follow-up from any questions that went unanswered from the previous week’s planning webinar.
