Prevention In Practice Course *NEW – CBD – 9, 16, 23 July 2019

July 9 @ 9:30 am - 4:30 pm

Prevention In Practice Course *NEW

This three day course will give you the foundation knowledge and skills you need as you  commence your career in the prevention of violence against women sector, and are undertaking prevention activities in your workplace or community.
Based on the recognised industry standards – the Preventing Family Violence and Violence Against Women Capability Framework, the course is designed around three modules, and is designed to provide all prevention practitioners - new and experienced – with a comprehensive introduction to prevention program design – from development to successful implementation!
Day 1 provides foundational knowledge around the evidence and prevalence of behaviours that constitute violence against women and family violence. Participants have the opportunity to understand the gendered drivers of violence against women and primary, secondary and tertiary interventions and effective techniques and actions that support best practice prevention of violence initiatives. An intersectional approach underpins the course, and include a comprehensive deep-dive on intersectionality, plus the role of wellbeing and reflective practice for prevention practitioners.
Day 2 is the Design for Success module, and the focus is best practice when designing and implementing prevention programs, including program logic design, as part of a prevention project planning cycle. Then in Day 3 in the Communicate for Change module, participants have the opportunity to consider evaluation models in prevention work, and also the role of communication and advocacy in a prevention context.
The Prevention in Practice course builds on Our Watch Change the Story Short Course and the VicHealth Short course.
The training is delivered in an engaging professional learning environment and includes a range of interactive activities, evidence based resources and provides opportunities for participants to share ideas, ask questions, engage in reflective practice and learn from other participants.
